The Future of Social Media in 2014: Industry Outlook

What is the Future of Social Media in 2014?What is the future of Social Media in 2014? Will Twitter and Facebook still exist? Will SEO still be an industry? Will Justin Bieber still be talked about? I decided to write this post up in question and answer format. Enjoy the read, and also enjoy watching my predictions unfold before your eyes.

Prediction:

1. Facebook will still be around- but not anything like what they are now. Facebook will undergo a fast, world-shaking shift to a more pridvate, friendly, social network (This future networks is a whole other blog post). Because they went public, they now have all this shareholder pressure to keep the stock high, so they will keep tinkering with the newsfeed and capabilities even more than they do now- losing all of us in the process. This swap will come fast- very similar to the massive Digg to Reddit switch years ago.

2. Twitter will still be around, but it will be completly used in a different way. Think about it....how is it that popular when NONE OF YOUR FRIENDS TWEET?!?! Just stop ignoring the obvious and ask your friends and co-workers- you will be surprised. Right now Twitter cannot let everyone know the extent to which bots and fake accounts clutter up the network (Their stock would plunge). They will make revenue from online interactive events and interactive news and polls, but they will slowly drop drop drop in numbers then die.

3. The rise of Pinterest. Yes this has been predicted already, but some feel like Pinterest has already seen its time. They are wrong. Pinterest is still predominately female in users; something around 80% I believe. Pinterest in other countries such as the UK for example, has a more 50/50 mix of users. I truly believe that guys into humor stuff will eventually catch on to the awesome way Pinterest arranges things, and start to make their own.

4. Reddit and Wikipedia will join forces. Their are so many moderators who moderate the moderators moderating the validity of someone’s post. Nothing can go by without being thought scrutinized and validate on Reddit. This blends perfectly into what Wikipedia needs- the freshest content, that is true. I dont know how they will do it, but it is going to be fun to watch.

5. Vine takes the win over Instagram Videos. The 6 seconds, compared to 15, makes all the difference in regards to pressure in making the most out of each second. With 6 seconds, the creativity flows like non-other.

6. Snapchat will develop its own web based second half. I dont know what it will look like- but it will be huge. This might be part of the super network that will rob Facebook of all users. This is because SnapChat makes the problem off selection while real-time posting more personal, directed, and fun.

7. Inbound Marketing will finally become the umbrella term for all forms of Internet Marketing. It will be the exact same as internet marketing, just Inbound

Marketing! Just like UFO Hunters suddenly changed to Ancient Astronaut Theorists.

8. There next three are too big to give away right now.

9. I am almost too tired to finish this post But this needed to come out.

10.The world must have a chance to listen to the speaker speak before I watch these Social Media Predictions unfold in 2014 and beyond!
