Government Adaptation
Coastal Risk Consulting, LLC (CRC) personnel have been working with government affiliates at national, state, regional and local levels for many years, and have also applied their expertise internationally in such countries as Brazil, Guatemala, Africa, and the Caribbean and elsewhere. The CRC team has been directly involved in the pioneering work completed for the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Compact. This includes sea level rise estimations and projections and development of cost-effective, adaptation responses.
CRC team members are routinely quoted in press reports and interviewed on radio and TV and have been referenced in leading publications in France, the United Kingdom, and Germany and have drawn national attention in the United States in the New York Times, USA Today and various other media outlets. This outreach is based on a solid core of climate impact work, which includes lead authorship of the National Climate Assessment and development of state wide assessment of vulnerability of infrastructure, township level advice and planning to adapt to flooding and sea level rise.
Based on this experience and linking with national and global experts, CRC is poised to respond to government and community needs at all levels and all scales. At the small town level, our diverse group is uniquely equipped to work with elected officials and professional representatives to provide detailed assessments of vulnerability and specific planning options. These plans can provide for both immediate actions and monitoring of key, coastal risk parameters over relevant time periods in order to devise phased responses and help execute adaptation responses.
CRC understands that it is imperative for government and coastal risk consultants to develop long term relationships in order to achieve these goals. Partnerships must also be formed with private sector and non-profit sectors.
At the city and community level, we are able to work with both government and community representatives by providing a level of science and expertise not usually available to them through existing resources. At the state and regional levels, CRC is well-equipped to bring the highest and most current level of knowledge in the formation of broad sector and long term responses to ongoing risks to our coastal facilities, settlements and economy.
